How do I know if our company bills have errors or overcharges?

Over 70% of the invoice audits performed by NASC have contained at least some overcharges and errors.

Are there any obligations or costs associated with your audit?

No, our services are performed on a contingency fee basis. The audit is performed free of cost, all we ask is that we receive a percentage of any of the refunds or credits we secure on your behalf and payable only upon your receipt.  If we do not secure any refunds or credits there is no charge for the audit and you get the satisfaction of knowing your utility charges accurate.

Can our company perform its own audit?

Yes, but the likelihood of them detecting or finding billing errors are slim to zero.  Utility bills are prepared using complex codes and tariffs that constantly change, in some cases from one billing cycle to the next, therefore making it virtually impossible to review the bills for accuracy unless the audit is being performed by a trained professional in the field.  If the company has the time and resources available, we ask that they do so before contacting us.  However, our years of experience enables us to identify refunds and savings opportunities that even most auditing firms may have missed and we find additional refunds and savings for our clients.

What is the cost of NOT having NASC perform its audit?

Most states impose a statute of limitations, therefore every month and every year that passes is a loss of any potential refunds that may have been due.

Aren’t all utility auditing companies the same?

NASC brings over 30 plus years of experience in the industry.  Many of todays auditing companies are web-based “virtual offices” offering similar services.  At NASC we have a full regulatory staff, utility auditors, accountants, and engineers working on our clients’ accounts using our proprietary auditing software to secure the largest potential refund for our clients.

Doesn’t my utility company provide its customers with a utility audit?

No.  Most audits performed by a customer’s utility company are geared towards helping the customer reduce their energy consumption, not to find errors and overcharges.
